As I've said before...
As blizzards and winds start to swirl
And I've run out of pix of my girl
I need real Chinese
Before I start to freeze
And they have great stuff at Eastern Pearl!
A male customer here that was feastin'
Saw my Barbie come in and she teased him
But did not grant his wishes
Just got 5 homestyle dishes
And declared "the best pearl is the Eastern!"
The Eastern Pearl is definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants out there in Western New York and in Upstate New York in general. They have Americanized dishes which are pretty good but I skip those personally, and then they have really good homestyle Chinese (mostly Cantonese) stuff with excellent expert cooking and delicious tastes across the board.
Ignore those like Hal and his sketchy 2-star review for the American Chinese... that's not what you come here for (even though some of it is tasty). Come here for Cantonese heaven!
So many dishes are good here that I don't even know where to start. I've had a lot of different stuff and everything blew me away. The Peking Duck and some of the authentic noodle dishes are particularly amazing.
I was in jail in China for awhile. When I got let out (conditionally), it was known as "The Eastern Parole." I immediately came here for dinner.
Like I said, this place is run by absolute angels - who also help run KFT (the only real Taiwanese Boba in New York State outside NYC). I know that they're nice to their customers, and that's a good thing and other businesses should learn from that, but there's being nice, and then there's going way above and beyond. On Thanksgiving, since they knew I'd be spending it alone, they invited me to their Thanksgiving dinner, for employees only, over at KFT. The food, of course, was partially provided by Eastern Pearl, and was absolutely delicious. The company meant a lot to me. It's where you realize that people are not just people you buy things from, but actually your friends.
Also, whereas the majority of people in WNY were like "oh cool you're a citizen now, well done", not realizing how arduous, long, stressful and intense the whole thing was, this lovely establishment gave me a "Citizenship Congrats" gift certificate for Eastern Pearl, which meant the world to me too.
You have to check out their authentic Cantonese dishes, they have a huge menu full of them, and they're so, so good - and the real thing - but in order to see them on the Yelp menu, scroll past the endless American choices to the bottom third of the menu.
So 5 stars for having great food, wonderful owners, good prices, and an exciting homestyle Cantonese menu which I love exploring.
And I heard that Eastern Pearl is only the internet name of this business. It's known as the "Eastern Pea" irl.
I admit my gf is a tease
And my kittens in Houston have fleas
But I said it, I meant it
This food is authentic
Eastern Pearl has real Cantonese!

Updated: worse than ever, stringy touch chicken, string beans that were old and limp.
Not sure what has happened, always said this was the "best" American Chinese in town, ever since 2010.
The last couple of meals have been tasteless, not good quality meat or vegetables. Something has changed. Just a sha -

It us no secret, Buffalo, NY has very few decent Dim Sum locations. Outside of travelling to Toronto, Canada, Westside Bizarre was the only location I would go for dim sum... until now.
Only thing, I wish Eastern Pearl would offer more traditional dim sum options.
Everything was delicious. Obviously, ordered more than I could consume (all the pictures), but leftovers for the week are a nice treat.
So around the menu: I was pleasantly surprised of the Avocado Fries.

HUGE portions, Fair Prices, Tasty food!
Probably not the first thing you think of when you hear the term "Juicy Buns," but let me tell you that that is ONE yummy menu item! They're a steamed pork filled bao style bun in a dumpling dough, with a little broth inside and they are quite delectable!
Restaunt overall has a nice asthetic, I really loved the dark wood with orange and gold accents. It's a casual family atmosphere, but also a good place to take a date!
Servers were friendly, and QUICK, the food was fresh, and the place was clean! What more can you ask for?
